Networking Groups

NCNG is made up of grantmaking organization that represent diverse funding types and a wide range of funding interests. Both locally and across the country, intentional collaborations among funders have increased the impact of philanthropy by combining members' knowledge and expertise.


NCNG has established Networking Groups to facilitate its members' in-depth exploration of issues and their impact on targeted community concerns. The purposes of Networking Groups vary, as does the frequency with which they convene.


Benefits of a Networking Group

  1. Build relationships with other NCNG members who have a shared interest.
  2. Participate in a forum to share information and ideas.
  3. Find inspiration and encouragement
  4. Meet and learn from experts.
  5. Provide input into future NCNG programming.
  6. Participate in professional and leadership development programming.
  7. Explore specific collaboration and joint action.

Issue Based Groups

Grantmakers often share overlapping interests and/or focus areas and find it helpful to connect with their peers to seek and share information. These groups include:

Networking Groups

Similar jobs often have similar challenges. NCNG's Networking Groups help connect those positions to each other across organizations so everyone involved can expand their horizons, share their experience and learn from others.

  • Chapel Hill Funders - Area funders can connect and share knowledge about the funding and services landscape in and around Chapel Hill
  • Communications - Communications staff can connect and share resources relevant to foundation communications
  • Corporate Funders - The state's wealth of corporate professionals engaged in philanthropy connect and share best practices, experiences and explore topics of interest
